Pet Freeze Drying Instructions and Shipping Information:
It’s best to decide prior to your pet’s death if you’d like to have them freeze dried. This way you have our pet shipping kit on hand when the time comes. This kit includes instructions and a hard plastic container that keeps any contents frozen up to three days at average shipping degree temperatures. We can send these materials after death, but steps must be taken quickly for proper pet freeze drying.
With that said, there are six necessary steps everyone MUST adhere to prior to having your pet freeze dried:
1. Immediately upon your pet’s death place them in a sealed plastic bag and then into a standard freezer that goes to 0 degrees or below. Freeze them for least three days to insure they are frozen prior to shipping so we can assure the best quality.
2. If you have no freezer many veterinarians and kennels are usually able to do this for you if you have a relationship with them.
3. Prior to shipping your pet, contact us so we can plan their arrival to us.
4. Your pet must remain frozen and shipped overnight, usually by UPS or Fed Ex.
5. Stuff the package with several layers of newspaper to protect against travel damage and melting so your pet arrives well protected. Avoid the use of ice to avoid water damage. Frozen gel packs can also be used.
6. Always ship on Mondays or Tuesdays and remember no holiday times. This is important because we need your pet ASAP once it’s shipped.
It’s important you understand the proper process so we can perform this type of pet taxidermy to the best of our abilities. We always treat your pet with the dignity they deserve but it’s important that these rules are followed so you get the best service.
